On Tuesday evening, criminals escaped with jewelery worth more than Rs 5 lakh from the trunk of a gold trader’s bike near the State Bank of India branch located at Pratapganj block headquarters of Supaul. The incident is said to have happened around 06:30 in the evening. According to the information, Raman Thakur, son of Kamal Kishore Thakur, resident of Ward 15 of Bhawanipur South Panchayat, was going home on bike after closing his shop located in the market as usual. While going home, he kept the valuable jewelery kept in the shop and the keys of the shop in a bag and kept it in the trunk of the bike. After leaving the shop, he parked the bike at a sweet shop near the bank and went to buy samosas.

While shopping, he looked at his bike and saw that the miscreants were opening the trunk. By the time Raman reached the bike, the miscreants opened the trunk, took out the bag and started running away on their bike. Seeing them running away with the bag, Raman Thakur tried to pull the criminals back by holding their bike. However, the criminals increased the speed of the bike and dragged Raman for some distance. After traveling some distance, Raman lost his grip on the bike and the culprit fled towards Simrahi via Police Station Road.

Here, when Raman raised an alarm, the people nearby also gathered. After which the incident was informed to the police station. As soon as the information was received, Police Station Head Pramod Jha reached the spot and took information about the incident. He told that a police team was sent in the direction of the criminals’ escape. Vehicle checking has been intensified by the police around the market. CCTV footage is also being scrutinized. Here, despite the crowd in the middle of the market, the incident of snatching has spread panic among the businessmen.
